Online Ordering FAQ
Can I order textbooks and merchandise online?
Yes. To order textbooks online go to the ASU Bookstores website and select textbooks in the left hand menu. Review the guidelines for online orders before you begin. To order ASU merchandise, select ASU apparel and gifts.
When will I receive my order?
Most orders are processed within 48 hours (weekends and holidays excluded). All shipments will be sent FedEx with an indirect signature required for delivery. For orders placed during the first two weeks of class, please allow additional 1-2 working days. If there will be a delay in your order, we will contact you or place your order on back order status until the books arrive. You can check the status of your online order by logging into our website and clicking on track order. Weekend and holiday delivery is not available.
What shipping methods are available?
-
FedEx Next Day Air: delivers by 3pm the next business day after shipping.
- FedEx 3 Day Express: delivers in 3 business days after shipping.
- FedEx Ground: delivers in 3-5 business days (lowest cost).
- Alaska/Hawaii: Available only for shipments to Alaska or Hawaii.
- Apple Products Only: Available only for Apple computer products.
- Gift Card Only: Available for shipping of ASU Bookstore gift cards.
- ICA Athletes Only: Available only for ASU scholarship athletes.
Note: If you select a shipping method for which you are not eligible, the order will be shipped to you via FedEx ground and ground rates will apply. The ASU Bookstores currently do not allow pick-up in the store because of physical space limitations.
Will I receive a confirmation of when my order is shipped?
Yes. There is a confirmation email sent when your online order is packed and shipped. This email includes your actual credit card charge and any item(s) not included in this shipment. All orders are shipped via FedEx. The USPS will be used in special circumstances, such as shipping to an APO or AFO address (Over Seas Military Address). A tracking email confirmation also is sent with the FedEx tracking number and expected delivery date.
What does back order mean?
Items not available at the time the order is processed are placed on back order and shipped at a later date. You are not charged for the back ordered item until it is in stock and shipped. You may cancel a back ordered item at any time by contacting the ASU Bookstores. We reserve the right to cancel back ordered items based on product availability.
Does the ASU Bookstore ship orders internationally?
Yes. For orders shipped outside the Continental United States, additional charges apply. The bookstore will notify you through email before we ship your order with your exact shipping charges. Tariffs and duty fees are the responsibility of the customer placing the order and are not always included in the shipping charges. Please contact the ASU Bookstores to discuss your international shipping options.
Why is the price in the confirmation email different from the amount charged to my credit card?
The confirmation email is sent to confirm your order with the ASU Bookstores and to advise you on the possible amount charged. The prices quoted on the confirmation email are quoted as new only. The bookstore does not know if they have used books until they fill your order. The order will then be updated with the used price (if any). Not all textbooks are available to ship at the same time or from the same campus. This will result in different times and amounts charged.
Payment is processed at the time of shipping for in-stock items only. Back ordered items are processed separately. For textbooks, the bookstore cannot guarantee the availability of your first preference (e.g. new vs. used). Used textbooks are not available for all classes and custom textbooks are sold as new only.
Who can I contact with a question about my online order?
With questions or concerns regarding your textbook orders, contact Online Order Customer Service department at 480.965.0809. For merchandise, call the Merchandise Customer Service toll free number at 800.567.5306.
How can I reserve textbooks to pick them up at the bookstore?
Go to textbooks in the left hand menu of the ASU Bookstores website. Review the guidelines for online orders before you continue with your reservation. Textbook reservations are not available throughout the year. Dates for reservations are posted on the bookstore website. If a reservation is placed before the fall and spring sessions, they will be processed and available one week before classes begin. At this time, text reservations are not charged until pick-up. If they are not picked-up at this time, they are taken off reservation and re-stocked onto the sales floor.
Where do I pick-up my ICA order?
All ICA orders are for the Student Athletes program only and not available to the general public. Any non-student athlete order placed with this shipping method will be shipped via FedEx ground and shipping charges will apply.
What methods of payment are accepted at the ASU Bookstores?
Visa, Master Card, Discover, American Express and ASU Bookstores gift cards are accepted. Additionally for in-store purchases, the ASU Bookstores accepts the ASU Sun Card, travelers’ checks and personal checks with an ASU ID Card.
How can I apply financial aid to my textbooks?
Financial aid cannot be directly applied to online textbook orders or in-store purchases. Financial aid is distributed by the university after tuition is paid. Only after the financial aid is deposited into a personal account can it be applied towards books or other items at the ASU Bookstores. The same policy applies to university and private scholarships.
What is the refund policy for textbooks or merchandise bought online or in store?
See the ASU Bookstores return policy for complete information.
Does the ASU Bookstores buy back used textbooks?
Yes. The ASU Bookstores buys back textbooks year around and at the end of each semester. A buyback value calculator is available on the website under buyback alert. Simply enter the book's ISBN (13 digit number found on the price tag) when prompted. If the text is still in need at the bookstore, there will be an estimated price calculated for buyback.
Does the ASU Bookstores buy back used CPS clickers and used calculators?
Yes. The bookstore does buy back used CPS clickers and calculators during the end of semester buyback only. They must be in working order and include batteries. We also buyback used lab goggles.
Can I pick up my books at the ASU Bookstores?
Due to space restrictions, only textbook reservations are offered with the pick-up in the store feature. All other orders ship to the customer.
How do I print my book list?
Login to My ASU from the ASU homepage and click on books in the My Classes section.
All of your classes and the books for those classes automatically display. You can then print out your book list, or complete an order to be reserved or shipped directly from that page.
Why is my shipping charge so high for small and light items?
Our shipping charges are calculated on a base weight and per item charge. For light weight merchandise items, the ASU Bookstores lowers your shipping charges during the processing of the order. If you have any questions, contact Merchandise Customer Service at 800.567.5306.
What is an indirect signature and why do I need to sign for a package?
All shipments are sent FedEx with an indirect signature required for delivery. This is to protect your shipment and to provide proof of delivery. The ASU Bookstores is not responsible for any shipment that is not signed. If you have circumstances that arise in which no one is available to sign for the order please contact the ASU Bookstores. We do not deliver to P.O Boxes; you must provide a valid street address.
Indirect Signature Required: FedEx will obtain a signature in one of three ways:
-
From someone at the delivery address
- From a neighbor, building manager or other person at a neighboring address
- The recipient can sign a FedEx door tag authorizing release of the package without anyone present
If FedEx's first delivery attempt of a shipment to an address is unsuccessful, they may make two additional attempts on the following two consecutive business days. If a package still cannot be delivered, FedEx may hold it for two additional business days and may research its status with the sender, recipient or both, and receive further instruction. After that time, FedEx will return it to the ASU Bookstores as undeliverable.
